Brian King Senior Pastor Pastor Brian comes to us from Cedar Falls Iowa. Born in Kokomo, Indiana, and raised in Mahomet, Illinois. He graduated from Wartburg College (where he was a History and Religion double major and Captain of the football team), and went on to earn his M.Div. at Wartburg Seminary in Iowa. He has been ordained for nearly 30years and has been married to his wife, Jen, for over 32 years. They have 4 adult children and 1 grandson. Pastor Brian is a former Churchwide Lutheran Youth Organization President and has served on the ELCA Boards for Church and Society and Congregational Life, as well as served on the Board for Augsburg-Fortress Publishing and as an ELCA Representative to the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA . Most recently he Chaired the Board of Lutheran Services in Iowa. He enjoys biking, weightlifting, history, the outdoors, watching movies, watching college football and wrestling, music (all types), service/mission trips, Mt. Dew, and ice cream. He doesn’t like hot weather or mosquitoes and he's not too fond of beets either! Myrna Westen oRGANIST/PIANIST Myrna has been a church musician for more than 30 years and enjoys sharing her love of music through teaching piano lessons. She has an associates degree in Piano Pedagogy from St. Catherine Universtiy in St. Paul and is certified to teach pre-school music. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling with her daughter, fostering cats, reading, crafting with friends, cooking, and helping people. On a side note Myrna adds, ”I want to learn to paint. Any artists out there who are willing to teach me?” |
Stacy Johnson Children, Youth & Family Coordinator Stacy has served as the Children, Youth & Family Ministry Coordinator since 2016. A graduate of Luther Seminary, Stacy has over 20 years of experience in youth and family ministry. Prior to Chisago Lake, Stacy served a congregation in Nisswa, MN. In her spare time Stacy enjoys spending time outdoors, especially in winter! She is the proud mother of her daughter Linnea. Stephanie Wendel Church accountant A native of Almelund, MN, Stephanie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from North Dakota State University. She has served as the accountant at Chisago Lake Lutheran for over five years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys. Together, they love camping and boating. Stephanie is also a fantastic quilter and has an eye for detail! Bob O'Neill Facilities Manager A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Bob comes to us with 10 years' experience serving in the US Navy, a background in industrial engineering, project management, and business administration, and currently owns and operates his own handy-man business in retirement. He lives in historic Center City with his wife of 47 years and is a member of the Center City Historic Preservation Commission, Saint Croix Valley Orchestra, and Saint Croix Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. He and his wife have 3 grown children. In his spare time, Bob enjoys hiking, fishing, golfing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. We are grateful for his wealth of experience! |
Sue Abrahamson OFFICE COORDINATOR Sue has been worshiping here at Chisago Lake Lutheran for the past 30 + years having "married into the church". Sue considers the people and community here at CLLC an extension of her family. She comes to the position of Office Manager after being at home full time for over 30 years accompanying her husband in running their family dairy farm and raising two sons, Tim and Joe. As the boys are more invlolved in the day to day chores and operations at home,Sue is happy to have a postion here in the office, finding the work meaningful while offering opportunities for learning and growth (especially in computer skills!). Bev Sandgren FINANCIAL Secretary Originally from Watertown, MN, Bev was raised on a dairy farm. She is a graduate of Mankato State with a degree in home economics. Bev has worked previously in the Chisago Lakes school district, and with her husband's business in the area of accounting. Interesting fact - Bev's great grandparents are buried in Glader Cemetery and were members of CLLC. |
